MACTAN ISLAND, CEBU

Just the GOOD STUFF...
Shrine of Lapu-Lapu & Magellan and Island Hopping. These are the points of interest in Mactan, Cebu, Philippines.

MACTAN
It’s the first city you step on when visiting this province of Cebu; assuming you’re traveling by air. The Mactan-Cebu International Airport is located in this city, the second busiest airport in the Philippines.

Lapu-Lapu City occupies most of the Mactan Islands, which is separated by a bridge to Mandaue City. About 15-minute drive from Cebu City.

Lapu-Lapu Monument & Magellan Shrine
This is a memorial place of two monuments. Erected in honor of Ferdinand Magellan and Lapu-Lapu. The one for Magellan was built in 1866, believed to be the spot where Magellan was killed. And the other one for Lapu-Lapu, a native who defeated Magellan’s troop.

Vaño Beach
This beach was recommended by a tricycle driver. We asked around for a beach in the area and a tricycle driver took us to this one. One that locals frequently go to. Common. Ordinary. I sort of expected it. Though the boat ride and boat picnic was fun.
